So for some unbeknown reason you stumbled across me on Twitter, or elsewhere on the interwebs, and you’re thinking, “Who is this SueOnTheWeb?” Well to cut a long story short I’m a Brit living in North Carolina who (many, many, many, years ago) founded a community for expatriates, which has grown to become the best (I’m biased of course) of its’ kind on the internet today. Some really nice company in California bought the community four years ago and I continue to manage it for the current owners.
I try and share some of the “in the trenches” type lessons I’ve learnt over the years on this blog, rather than the high level strategy type stuff because that’s basically the sort of person I am. It’s the one-to-one nitty, gritty type stuff of Community Management that often gets overlooked, maybe because it doesn’t appear as glamourous, or as important, … I’m not sure … but it’s the core of what holds a community together.
As I’m busy actually managing a community I sometimes don’t blog as regularly as I like so apologies if my posts don’t come think and fast. But if you’ve got a burning question about community management you want to ask (like “how can one type, manage a community and eat chocolate all at the the same time?”) then give me a shout and I’ll try my very best to answer it for you. And if I don’t know I’ll point you in the direction of someone who does.
If you’re not bored yet you might also be interested to know that I’m addicted to online communities and chocolate (not always in that order). I’m always on the lookout for new friends, (not that I’m Billy-No-Mates you understand) so please say hi to me here, or on Twitter (where I hang out a lot), and I look forward to getting to know you.
I’m also looking for a new adventure in 2012, so if you have an interesting opportunity, and think I would be a good fit for your company, then I would love to hear from you!
